A Word From Your President

Dear Members:

Don't you just love fall? I love the changing of the leaves and watching my kids jump in leaf piles. I love football games, soccer games and the crisp (not cold) autumn air. I even love the smell of burning leaves. And I really loved watching the Wisconsin Badgers football team beat Ohio State!

I wanted to congratulate our very own Kim Haines who has been named the Chair of the Committee on Challenges Facing the Profession by the State Bar Board of Governors. This committee will be examining the challenges to our profession and looking for solutions and ways that the State Bar of Wisconsin can assist the members of the Bar to navigate through these challenges. If you can think of any issues that you would like them to examine please feel free to contact her.

I trust that you are all planning on getting to the polls on November 2, 2010, to exercise your right to vote. We are blessed to live in a country where we can help shape our government in a civilized and peaceful manner. I hope you all take advantage of that gift and let your voices be heard.

Finally, don't forget to check the "Mark Your Calendars" box above. We have set the dates for the Judge's Update Luncheon and the Support Staff Luncheon. These are great networking and social events through which we can maintain the collegiality of our Bar Association. I hope to see you all there.

Very truly yours,

Christy D’Angelo

Small Practice Seminar

Kim Haines, our Waukesha County Board of Governors rep asked me to pass on this information to members:

The Law Office Management Section (LOMS) of the State Bar of Wisconsin is pleased to invite you to attend the “Considerations for Starting a Law Practice” Seminar.  The sessions are designed to help you through the process of planning and starting your own practice. The program will give you information about creating a practice from the ground up: from where you want to locate your office, to what you need in the office, to how to attract clients.
The cost is low, so that all can afford to attend, and CLE credit will be applied for. You will note the cost is less to section members and law students. Please join our Section!
The Board is pleased to offer this opportunity to meet, network, discuss and learn. We’ll even buy you lunch. We hope to see you November 13, 2010 (Saturday) at the Jefferson Street Inn in Wausau.

More information and the registration form can be found here.
