A Word From
Your President
Dear Colleagues:
On May 12th, 2008 at the Annual Meeting ,the members in attendance
approved a new slate of officers and directors. The President for
the 2008-2009 fiscal year is Dan Habeck. The entire list of board
members for the upcoming year is on the WCBA website. At the same
meeting, a scholarship check was presented to Allison Ziegler from
Marquette University Law School and it was announced that a second
scholarship will be awarded to Steven Cotter from University of
Wisconsin Law school. Unfortunately, Steven was unable to attend the
event. Allison thanked the Bar for its award.
The attendance at the meeting was very small. Only about 30
members attended. This meeting is an opportunity for everyone to learn
about what is going on and have their voice heard. I encourage
everyone to attend these meetings in the future.
This is the end of my term as president. It has been an enjoyable
learning experience. As always I encourage interaction and
participation of as many Bar members as possible in all Bar activities.

Minutes - Thursday, April 17,
2008
Attendance:
Dan Habeck, President Elect, Judge Mac Davis, Past President, Michael
Morse, Danni Caldwell, Christine Davies-D'Angelo, Michelle Martin,
Craig Kuhary and Sharon Stolpa.
Minutes: The
Minutes of the March meeting were approved, subject to the revisions of
Mike Morse on pursuit of another term with the Board of Governors.
Treasurer’s and Membership
Report: The Treasurer's Report was distributed and
reviewed. No Membership Report was made.
Old Business and Committee
Reports
State Board of Governors: Mike Morse made a brief presentation
concerning current actions and the current agenda. Mike also
explained his decision not to pursue another term.
Scriptus/Website: Danni Caldwell reported that the
Scriptus would go out likely next week.
Awards Dinner: Dan Habeck reported for Marjorie Wendt that the
Awards Dinner was on pace. Judge Davis reported that all of the
attendees had been notified and were planning on appearing and their
introductory speakers had been lined up.
New Business
Annual Meeting 5/12/08 and
CLE: Mike Morse updated as to the CLE and Ross
Kodner. The Board will notify the membership of the availability
of Ross Kodner's materials online, but will not print multiple copies
of those materials. Dan Habeck will check with Marjorie Wendt and
confirm lunch selections.
New Budget & Board of Directors: The Board deferred
action on the Budget pending discussion of certain issues with Marjorie
Wendt. Dan Habeck announced that Christine D'Angelo will move
into the officer rotation. Discussion was had concerning at-large
membership, and a determination is pending before the Nominating
Committee.
The Meeting was adjourned by unanimous consent at 12:50
p.m.

to me earlier this spring, but I dropped the ball and failed to provide
this information in an earlier edition, and I apologize. There will be
a two day interpreter orientation program in Madison in August. (The
Waukesha session was in mid-May.) Information can be found at this

Please refer anyone that you think may want to serve as a court
interpreter to this website for more information.

Our
summer mailing with membership applications as well as
information about WCBA sections, current WCBA officers and board of
directors and information about the circuit court judges and their
staff, including upcoming rotation news, will be mailed to all members
