A Word From Your President

Dear Members:

In my last letter I queried the Bar on items of importance or proposed initiatives for the Bar Association this year.  Outside of a request that we formally object to the Packers handling of the Brett Favre situation, there has been little response.

As a pessimist, before my coffee, I will take this as an indication that the Bar is somewhat lethargic and inactive.  As an optimist, after my coffee, I will assume that this simply means the membership approves of everything we have been doing for the last couple of years.  I would again invite your input and opinion on things the Bar could or should be doing.

Best wishes this fall.

Very truly yours,

Dan Habeck
President

Fall Event: Discussion was had on whether or not to continue with a fall, networking event. It was decided that since these events have not been well attended in the past few years that it will be discontinued at this time. We are open to further ideas for an event in the future.

New Initiatives: Discussion was had on various community service projects in which the Bar could participate or act as a sponsor. Ideas:
    •    Provide a copy of the State Bar brochure On Being 18 to local high school seniors.
    •    Put together a list of members who have volunteered to help and hold a discussion on possible projects.
    •    Lunch & Learn: Free lunch time CLE opportunities for members.
